Professor Alice Pyne is a Professor of Biophysics and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow.
Sheffield is an amazing place to conduct research.
It has a rich history of multidisciplinary research, it leads in nucleic acids which is something that I am really driven by and it's also a leading partner in the Royce Institute where we get to use cutting edge technologies to answer new questions which relate to all aspects of society, and the fact that it's a brilliant place for people to live and work so we can get incredible research done whilst really enjoying ourselves.
Despite never formally training as an engineer, I'm really proud to be an engineer and work in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sheffield because I believe it's a really forward thinking faculty because I'm able to do incredible multidisciplinary research bringing together engineering, physics, biology, and computer science to answer big fundamental problems that affect our society and hopefully, one day might even benefit human health.
We interviewed Alice in February 2025.
